SCEA just announced that Gran Turismo 5 will be reaching store shelves on November 24th of this month following a delay from its original November 4th date. One of the PS3′s most elusive titles will finally be in our hands at the end of this month, in plenty of time for the holiday season.

The Most Highly Anticipated Racing Game Will Be In Your Hands Beginning Wednesday, November 24

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Nov. 12, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA) today confirmed that Gran Turismo® 5 will go on sale throughout North America on Wednesday, November 24.

“Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program!” commented Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. “When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.”

In Gran Turismo 5, you can tackle the world’s most famous racetracks, rendered in high-definition that is as vivid as the real thing, and get behind the wheel of some of the most legendary cars in motor racing from past to cutting-edge present. An impressive line-up of over 1,000 in-game cars will be featured, including the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, the Lexus LFA and the McLaren MP4-12C. Players will also go head-to-head on famous legacy circuits such as Autumn Ring, Deep Forest Raceway, and the Grand Valley Speedway, in addition to renowned real-life circuits such as Nurburgring and the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Usually, on the PS3 – In order to gain access to the psn you have to be running the latest ps3 firmware. See, thats a thing of a past thanks to these chinese hackers.

While security routines prevent anyone with an earlier firmware than the current required from logging on PSN, this circumvents that through a custom payload.

As of writing, compatibility is limited to PS3Yes! dongles, but there’s little doubt that ports will soon emerge for the wide range of USB devices that support PS3Jailbreak and its derivatives.

It remains to be seen how Sony will respond. Assuming your firmware and other system internals can be detected, we wouldn’t be surprised if they pull out the banhammer.

Well according to a user over at gtpforums, he has a retail version of the Gran Turismo 5, yes the most delayed game ever. Don’t believe me? Check these out:

Incidentally, the GTPlanet thread where the picture was posted is now in a furor over posts that allege the owner of the disc will upload a few videos of the game to YouTube. If you want to join in on the F5 mashing, just head on over there.

The existence of a retail copy is significant since it means production, which was halted a while back to incorporate features in Sony’s latest SDK to the game, has since commenced. Polyphony Digital and Sony reportedly need a three-week period to produce enough discs, so if they’ve already started they should be able to finish before December rolls around. This would be in accordance with Sony’s claims that the game will make it to retail by the 2010 holiday season. It also leaves quite a bit of time to drum up further marketing for the game.

Of course, that’s all going to be moot if it turns out to be an elaborate fake.

Sources from – qj.net

IO Interactive employee Damien Simper has let slip in his LinkedIn profile that he is serving as lead animator for the title. Additionally, programmer Theo Engell-Nielsen also drops wind of Hitman 5, alongside notable mention of a 2011 release window.

Last month, a flurry of restructuring layoffs hit IO — which resulted in 35 jobs lost and the subsequent cancellation of an in-development project.

Here’s hoping our next piece on this one concerns a full reveal and not more leaks.

Sony has refreshed its licensed PS3 Bluetooth Headset, trimming off around 30 percent of the fat from the previous model. The result? A sleek, glossy new look enclosed in a more compact form factor.

Appearances aside, the headset now boasts “built-in noise cancellation for filtering out ambient noise when used with the PS3 system as well as your mobile phone.” Also of note is improved mobile phone compatibility, allowing users to make use of three-way calling and call waiting functionality.

Compatible with Bluetooth 1.1 or higher devices, Sony estimates that the headset will offer “nearly six hours of talk time.” Look for it to hit retailers later this month at the same price as its previous generation counterpart — $49.99.

Today marks the start of what is hopefully a new beginning for the PS3 scene, no longer dependent on ‘leaked’ SDK libraries. Developer CodeZombie has released Pongus, a derivative of the classic paddle game known as Pong.

The visuals are primitive, but that’s besides the point. This has been compiled with the freely available, open-source PSL1GHT SDK, thus legal to distribute. Here’s the scoop, straight from the included readme:

Pongus is a simple pong clone, demonstrating the basic features of the PSL1GHT SDK.

- Right now, it’s in a playable state, with enemy AI, collision detection, Speed advancement and simple controls.
+ Right now, it’s in a playable state, with enemy AI, collision detection, Speed advancement and simple controls.

I am aware that there is already a much better pong clone available for the ps3, but that package contains leaked sony code, and is illegal to distribute.

This package is the opposite, written completely with the Open PSL1GHT SDK. No Sony code was used to write this game, and thus, is able to be freely distributed, source and all.

It’s coming — when EA is ready to break the silence, that is. EA Europe prez Patrick Soderlund explains in an interview with EG:

I still think as a company we’re going to talk about it when we’re going to talk about it. What I can say is, we haven’t buried it. We’re absolutely continuing to support Mirror’s Edge as an IP. When we’re ready to talk about it, we’ll talk about it.

Soderlund’s reluctance towards sharing details is hardly surprising. It’s still early yet, obviously. At the very least, it’s reassurance that development is still chugging along.
